The Cycle a Difference Vietnam Challenge Ride exceeded all our hopes for fundraising for the neonatal nurse training and the commitment of the cyclists and sponsors was just amazing.
It is hard to believe we are a third of the way through the nurse training graduation is August 2014. So far the course has developed the nurses understanding of the key principles of neonatal care and is building on these to further develop their understanding of the complexity of neonatal disease processes.
At this stage we can see the nurses implementing their new knowledge and this is particularly evident in their care for babies on CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Device), and their understanding of why the positioning of babies is important in order to avoid adversely affecting their development. There is a far greater understanding of the importance of keeping baby warm and good infection control.
