As an educationalist and a professional neonatal nurse I understand the importance of embedding an understanding of how to manage and lead neonatal nurses in the neonatal environment more effectively to improve the care of the infants and manage the environment more efficiently. I was keen to introduce key principles about these core subjects in a new and refreshing way. The nurses on the programme have been taught in the past in a very traditional didactic way, meaning there was little interaction between the learners or indeed the teacher. A lot of fun was had building the bridges – however, but we also reflected on what was learnt from the process and what could they transport from that learning to their work environment.
