On the 1st of June, 20 riders from Hogan Lovells offices in Hong Kong and Singapore and their clients began a grueling 3 day, 450 km cycling challenge to raise funds to improve our work of survival and care for newborn infants in Da Nang City and the surrounding provinces.
Despite a 2,700 meter climb on the first day, riders managed a final assault on the Hai Van Pass before being joined by the Da Nang Cycling Association and a Newborns Vietnam trustee for the homestretch. The riders, with their police escort made a triumphant entry to the city, and were cheered into the Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children by doctors and nurses, before a red carpet welcome by Cecilia Piccioni, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam and Da Nang City officials.
The highlight was the cyclists visit to the neonatal unit, where they experienced first-hand the fruits of their labour.
